Vanessa Gonzalez was born in El Salvador and made her way to Los Angeles, California where she was raised. She went on to graduate from the University of Notre Dame and then pursued her doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Miami (UM). While at UM, she was part of Dr. Davis’ clinical research group who focused on a case study utilizing John F. Barnes myofascial release with a patient with rheumatoid arthritis. This work has since been published in the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
Upon graduation from the University of Miami, she was awarded the Miller School of Medicine Department of Physical Therapy Clinical Excellence Award, along with a competitive scholarship to study with John F. Barnes to learn myofascial release. Vanessa has been practicing myofascial release at UM Hospital in acute care until her recent move to join the Polestar Pilates Rehab/John F. Barnes myofascial release therapy staff.
Among other things, Vanessa has a passion for wound and burn healing which she will address with the use of traditional methods along with myofascial release techniques. Vanessa is dearly loved by patients and staff alike, and excited to join the Polestar Pilates Rehab family.
